Hockey Alberta has updated its 2021-2022 Season Plan based on the recent announcements by the Government of Alberta. The plan outlines the minimum standards for Hockey Alberta’s Members to undertake during hockey activities this season. The updated plan reflects latest provincial health orders and the implementation of the Restrictions Exemption Program. While this plan focuses on Minor Hockey (17 years and under), a separate Season Plan has been created for Junior and Senior hockey (18 years and over).
There is also an Access Requirements document for REP and Non-REP facilities which contains useful information to ensure you and your players can access arenas. Finally, there is a Frequently Asked Questions document about COVID-19 vaccinations.
It is important to remember local governments can either meet or exceed the provincial health measures. The City of Edmonton Covid-19 Policy regulations go further than provincial measures in that they require people twelve years of age and older to provide proof of a vaccination, a negative Covid-19 test or a medical exemption in order to enter the arena. The City of Calgary has the same requirements AND requires those 12 and older to provide identification (for ages 12-17 it does not need to be photo ID; for example, a birth certificate or student ID would suffice).
As you know, everyone must wear a mask and physically distance (except when on the ice).
The best thing we can all do for ourselves and each other - and to see a full hockey season - is to be fully vaccinated, mask up, physically distance and carry both your proof of vaccination and your ID. Please continue to be kind and patient with each other - we're trying to keep each other healthy and we will get through this yet!
Having said all that, let's love the fact the kids are back on the ice playing hockey - enjoy the games!!!
