25th Anniversary of the Stan Gantar Memorial Tournament

Kilkenny Community League is honoured to be able to host the 25th Anniversary edition of the Stan Gantar Memorial Tournament this January 25th thru February 4th, 2018 at our outdoor rinks, 14910 - 72 St., NW.  As part of the celebration, we are looking for Alumni - participants, coaches, parents, family and friends to share their memories with us.

The memories can be:

• A short comment, parable, antidote
• Photo at the rink, in the hall, trophy presentation, Bailey's & coffee with friends, dressed for the weather in 'shorts and sandals' or fur coat, snow mound climbing, etc.
• Photo of parent and child (both alumni) yes, we have a few
• Photo of the hockey stick autographed by one or more of the following: Kevin Lowe, Craig McTavish, Randy Greg, Ryan Smith, Eric Brewer, Mike Comrie, Anson Carter
• Drop off an old trophy or medal that you received for display
• Copy of the Inaugural Tournament Program from 1991 (we are looking for one)
• Frozen thermometer
• ITV news from the rink with 6 mm of water on the ice sheet and raining.
• Playing with snow on the ice
• Snow removal - we have had some significant snow falls over the years
• Newspaper article about the Tournament
• Ice preparation, flooding. line painting
• Concession workers
• Your tournament mug with appropriate fluid, still in use.
• Sketch of the event

Please provide the year to associate your memory with.

We will be preparing a Memory Board to display at the hall during the Tournament and will publish to a webpage.

Please distribute this e-mail request to your family, old teammates or players on your former teams that were involved.  If you have contacts from the first five or six years of the tournament, please ensure that they are forwarded the e-mail as we used to use the telephone to maintain contact with the teams.

Please reply to this e-mail with your memories.  If you have something to drop off, please let us know and we can schedule a drop-off location.  If you would like the item returned, please mark it with your Name, e-mail address, street address and phone number.

It is hard to believe that we have made it to the 25th year and would like to sincerely thank everyone that made it all possible.
